Low Dimensional Materials Research Centre (LDMRC) was founded in 2010 and formerly known as Solid State Physics Laboratory (SSPL). This Centre conduct various research works related to low-dimensional system including dimensional structures less than three dimensions. These materials have a lattice structure which approximates sheets (two-dimensional) or chain (one-dimensional) or which exists as a thin film or surface layer, or needles, or clusters (zero-dimensional) with the size of the atomic scale dimensions (ie nm) . Current research is focused on silicon and carbon-based nanomaterials, organic electronics, metal oxides, III-nitrides and bio-materials. The fundamental and potential applications of these materials are actively studied in this research center. The research center is equipped with necessary facilities needed to fabricate, characterize and analyze the low-dimensional materials.
